Magick rings are also known in medieval Jewish esoteric tradition; they are mentioned in the Talmud and Midrash. Probably the best known is Solomon's magical ring which had many magickal properties, making Solomon all-knowing, conferring him with the ability to speak with animals and bearing the special Sigil that sealed genies into bottles.
During the Middle Ages rings served as amulets, charm rings, or magick talismans. These rings were often engraved with figures, symbols, and words, to ward off evil. These were worn with the same idea that Christian crucifixes are worn today that is to protect the wearer in some magickal way. Early gnostic Christians wore rings in this manner.
